Hard Time Losing pregnancy weight after 3rd baby?
I'm having a really hard time losing the weight after my third baby, I gained alomst 50 pounds (I know, I know, my own fault) and it's just not comming off like it did with the others, there's is only 17 month difference between the second and third, so maybe that has something to do with it too???? I pretty much only lost the 15 pounds right after birth...I'm not doing anything differently this time, and I'm breastfeeding. Anyone have any advice or explanation as to why??? Not feeling to great about myself lately. Thank you!

Don’t listen to anyone that says ‘breastfeeding will help you lose weight’…it’s bull! In reality, your body will hold on to extra weight to protect your milk supply in case of emergency. For instance, if you were to stop eating, your body has held on to enough fat that you can still produce milk for quite a while. Plus, if you’re anything like me, after pumping/nursing, you’ll be STARVING and want to eat anything in sight! My weight stayed basically the same for quite a while as I breastfed (despite light workouts and calorie reductions), but now that I’ve weaned my baby, I’m seeing slight drops without changing much. Good luck to you!!
Try using the Nutrisystem plan. I have heard this helps alot! Start walking and excerising more! Here is some info from babycenter.com below. Hope this helps! Good luck!
First of all, follow a healthy diet while you’re pregnant and have an exercise physiologist or your doctor or midwife help you set up an exercise program that’s right for you.
After pregnancy, suggests Redfern, "I’d recommend following a healthy diet similar to the one you ate while you were expecting and seeing a registered dietitian to help tailor a program for weight loss to you, especially if you’re breastfeeding." Any or all of these efforts will help you lose the appropriate amount of weight at the right rate.
Much of the weight you’ve been accumulating will be gone pretty soon after you give birth. Mothers usually lose one-half of their pregnancy weight gain in the first six weeks postpartum. The baby accounts for about 7.5 pounds (more or less), and the amniotic fluid, placenta, and extra body fluids and blood in your body add up to another 8 to 12 pounds. Also, your uterus and breasts have gotten bigger, adding up to 4 to 6 pounds. Remember, it took nine months to put on the weight, and it can take just as long or longer for all of it to come off.
I can 100% relate to your frustration!!! I have 3 kids (and one on the way). I had my 3rd, 19 months after my 2nd…similar to you. It seriously took me 2 years to feel completely comfortable in my skin again! It could be diet and/or exercise? I found that when I regularly (3 times a week) went to the gym, I gradually started losing. Don’t be so hard on yourself!!!!! If you’re still nursing, your baby is probably still really young. Let your body recover, and take your time! Sounds like you need to have some time away! Go pamper yourself…It makes a difference, trust me! Best of luck!
I had 6 children in 6 years, and was able to lose the weight right away. The thing that helped me is I would put my children in a stroller, or the older ones would walk, and we would walk to the park nearby, and I would play on the playsets with my older children. I also played sports when I was pregnant (soft ball) with my first 3 children, which helped me keep in shape, though I did gain 40 lbs with each child. But, since you’re breastfeeding, I would not advise going on a calorie restricted diet, you need the nutrients for the baby. My children are all 1 year apart, and having fun with them outdoors, running with them, laughing with them, is the best exercise. As long as you walk at least 30 minutes a day, you will eventually lose the weight, just eat healthy. And as you are breastfeeding, your uterus will shrink much faster, also.
