Helping You To Lose Weight
I would definitely look at the site of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. http://www.asmbs.org
My doctor uses an online patient education tool to give out her information. http://www.info-surge.com. Maybe the surgeon you are thinking of going to uses the same service? I would call and ask.
Also some of the pharmaceutical companies have good websites look at http://www.bariatricedge.com they have tons of information.
Go to a doctor.
Any sort of weight loss surgery is risky, with a low chance of good results, but if you want to research, try to find a website that isn’t biased towards any sort of business or doctor. I would take your time and energy and focus it on exercising.
For Lap Band, I used
lapbandsolutions.com
realizeband.com
http://womenshealth.about.com/od/fitnessandhealth/a/weightlosssurg_3.htm
For Gastric Bypass
http://www.bariatricsurgerypittsburgh.com/diet/instructions.html
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/gastric-bypass-diet/WT00007
For other information..the comparison of Lap Band and Gastric Bypass
http://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/lapband/about/options.htm
http://www.asbp.org/
I don’t know any information on the vertical gastric sleeve, I was never interested in that one.
Just remember to do all the research to know just what you want.
Also, there is a good weight loss support group on any type of surgery
http://www.obesityhelp.com
I honestly don’t know if this really works but i can tell you one of the most known/sold weight loss programs, tips is found in the weight loss 4 idiots center visit it now:

* There are lots of positive review and testimonials on the net!
Obesityhelp.com is very informational and I spent A LOT of time on it before I had my surgery just over a year ago. There’s a lot of information on types of surgery, doctors in your area, insurance, etc. that was invaluable to me before I decided.
There’s also quite a few websites out there by different docs. My doc’s is obesityhelpiowa.com and it does have a lot of info.
If you decide to go forward, the doctor you choose will most likely provide a wealth of information as well as possibly an informational seminar.
