is ¨the zone diet ¨ healthy for diabetes II?

my 11 year old boy is not dependent on taking insulin, only exercise and the atkins diet were doing just fine, but his sugar levels have been are little higher lately, and friend convinced us that by start doing ¨the diet zone ¨ result , his sugar levels are through the roof. any helpful input ?

I'm 30 wks and have been very conscious of everything I have eaten my whole pregnancy. I eat whole grains. I don’t eat desserts or drink soda. When I’m not nauseated by them, I eat veggies and lean meat. I looked at diabetes diets online and am already eating in line with them. No one in my family has diabetes.

I work for a fast paced job that brings in lunch daily. We don’t pick what, they just bring in a bunch of something. This is the only time when I’m not in control of my diet. Nov is our busiest month, most days I work 10 hrs without breaks so I know I don’t get enough water or exercise during the day. Now I’m feeling angry towards my employer. I'm also feeling very angry with my body and even the baby! I don’t want to tell people because they already joke about how careful I am with my diet. It always annoyed me- now it seriously pisses me off. Is this a natural first reaction? Will this feeling pass? Since I already eat very healthy, do you think I'll have to take insulin?

My sister in law delivered a baby on Sept 25th and she already looks awesome! She hadn't put on much weight in the first place but she looks better than she did before, and her skin is more beautiful than ever!!! She had a C-Section, i thought after a C section it takes more time to get back into shape, all it took her was a month! She doesn't even exercise! Does it happen with everyone? the skin and weight I mean? I wish I would be as lucky as her, 'cos right now i look like a stupid ugly buffalo :-( But well i guess it's all worth it, 'cos I'll have my little baby with me in 14 weeks :-) but seriously how long does it really take to lose all that weight? I am 25 weeks today and have put on 13 lbs already!!!

i need to lose my stomach fat by mid April because i am going on a cruise. I need a new body---not fat stomach. I dont want to do tht acai berry thing..i know it works but im a PRE TEEN GIRL. Explain what i should eat for the whole day, exercise, and any other daily basis thing for losing weight. I NEED HELP. PLEASE ANSWER! i hope to lose 15 lbs, of STOMACH FAT, thanks.

I was very skinny and toned before getting pregnant, (about 110 lbs) but I've gained about 45 lbs during pregnancy I'm only 5'1'' so now I look terrible, extra flabby skin everywhere!!! I lost 20 lbs in the first 3 weeks right after my baby was born, but it's been 3 more weeks since then and i haven't lost a pound. Will I EVER be that skinny again? Do I need to go on a strict diet and exercise like crazy to get my abs back or I'm being too paranoid and all I need it's time?

I'm sorry if I seem shallow...but I have always been someone that has taken care of my body. I like being healthy, and to me, being healthy means being a proper weight. But now that I'm going to be having a baby...I know I'm going to pack on the pounds no matter what. All my friends that have had babies have not lost the baby weight, and they all used to be in excellent shape so it scares me...

can someone who has had a baby before please tell me...how hard is it to find the time, motivation, and energy to lose weight and exercise when you have a new baby? How hard was it for you to lose the weight, if you did?

Best diet plans/exercises to lose fat/gain muscle?

I'm overweight thanks to inactivity. I was in a car wreck three years ago and had limited mobiliity for 8 months causing fat gain/muscle loss. I am very determined to get this off, and have lost 40 lbs since March by increasing activity.

I'm a vegetarian but I do get enough protein (FYI, for those who may say MORE PROTEIN)

I have a very low natural testosterone level so I inject weekly with prescribed Depo-Testosterone. This causes my levels to spike to above average levels. Since starting the hormones, I have noticed a lot of growth in my leg and arm/shoulder muscles.

Currently, I do 20-30 min of cardio 5-6 days a week and do light lifting for 15 min every other day and heavier lifting for 15 min the other days.

My goal is to lose another 30 lbs of fat but gain muscle as well. At my current weight 30lbs of fat loss would put me at an ideal size for my frame. Thankfully the Testosterone makes this a more possible goal than if I were not on the injections

So what do people recommend for good fat loss/muscle growth exercise and diet wise? I'm open to all suggestions. I'm very serious on doing this the right way to better my overall quality of life and boost my self esteem.

Note: I'm also on prescribed amphetamines for my ADHD so I get bursts of energy in the morning and mid afternoon.

I am sick and tired of all these sprinting/HIIT sites claiming HIIT is better for fat loss etc when that is NOT true. (little do they know pro sprinters do longer slower runs most of the time called "extensive tempo",) Any doctor iwll tell you slower longer exercise is better for fat loss , your heart rate and blood pressure.

Could someone give me a workout plan for a beginner to lose a bit of fat. Jogging for example How long how often?

stressed, burnt out… 1 year – 45 lbs how to?

college. stress, so much work. i am a pharmacy student. extrememly stressed out. i have lost 20 lbs since september.

would like to lost about 50 lbs in the next years time. i am 220, 5' 10'', big boned, weight distributed on lower body and arms, not so much torso.

how can i lose the weight without exhausting my already stresse, tired, anaemic self. most times am so fed up, i dont even wanna hear about exercise. i just wanna eat a banana or something sweet like that. sigh.

i get so frustrated i wanna cry. i cant find a balance. am so fed up right now. tests and finals on the way... sigh. i really dunno what to do. i honestly dont think most of the 20 lbs i lost was healthy.

help please if u can. isnt there a non hectic, quick way to lost 45 lbs in 360 days? i am sick of the rush weight loss programme i'm seeing online. i dont wanna lost 20 lbs in a month!!! help please if u can

Did you have problems losing weight after pregnancy?

I gave birth to my daughter August 7th of this year. I weighed between about 140 when I got pregnant, and weighed about 185 when I had her (alittle more then recommended, I know) Anyways, I weigh 160 right now. I dont look bad, because I'm tall, but I still cant fit into old jeans yet. A few pairs I can, but 90%, not yet. I'm breastfeeding, and I try o exercise alittle each day. But I've been 160 since about a month after she was born. Will I ever go back to normal???

The title makes no sense at all, sorry for that! A girlfriend of mine got pregnant two years ago and she gained 85 pounds and became 200something pounds. Since then she has shed all of her pregnancy weight and is well below her pre-pregnancy weight and is a size 2 when she was a size 10. She says she didn't diet or exercise at all. She never breast fed, she was just very much involved with her son and running around with him that she shed the weight.

Do you think this is believable ?

I gave birth 7 weeks ago and I want to start working out now that I'm healed to lose this pregnancy weight. I've already lost 22 lbs just by eating better, but I want to tone my body up. Is this a good exercise to help lose the weight?

If not, do you suggest anything else I can do at home?

what is involved getting weight loss surgery?

My health is getting worse. I have talked to my dr about my weight gain for years and all she says is diet and exercise and as I been seeing her i have crept on another 30 lbs I am fat as ever now and I have tried all diets and now my knees are in pain. She refuses to even entertain the idea of the Weight loss surgery. I am in portland oregon and on I am on the providence personal option. I need a new dr or something. Because I will be 300lbs before long and my dr. will still just say diet and exercise. Hell if it was that easy I'd been done already!! this has been going on three years! I HAVE CUT out all sugar; deep friend foods> she took a thyroid test and it was normal. My family has all been obese I am fight against all odds here and its been very depressing. any serious ideas ? Please don't beat your drum about diet and exercise and furits and veggies I heard it all and tried it all. How do I get to the steps to have the surgery?

What kind of diet is for Gestational Diabetes?

I think I have the worst doctor. He told me today I have gestational diabetes and asked the nurse to give me some dietary education, but then everyone disappeared and I didn't get any education at all. I've never had this before and have no clue what to do! All they told me was that diabetes can be controlled with diet and exercise.... but no info on the kind of diet. we're going into a holiday weekend so I know I won't get any appointments with dieticians or specialists until next week or the week after at the earliest. Meanwhile, do you guys have any suggestions of simple foods to eat/diets to follow? Am I supposed to avoid sugar totally?
P.S. I am so angry at my doctor, and feel really guilty about having diabetes. Any suggestions on how to cope would be great!

My weight loss program is showing very quick results?

I started exercising and watching my diet three months ago, for almost 5 weeks. I lost about 3 pounds.Then I went back to my old eating pattern and no exercise.And gained back the lost weight.

One week ago I began my routine again.
This time instead of walking for an hour I began running or dancing for half an hour each day. This time the weight loss showed immediately - in a week I had lost about 4 pounds!Then I stopped the exercise and diet for 2 days and gained back 3 pounds!

I dont understand why the weight loss is working this way, and also am worried that if after I get to my desired weight I stop my weight loss routine I'll gain everything back really fast??
Or is it something to do with the kind of exercise I've chosen?

Help in losing weight.?

I am 28 years old 5'5 and weight 190, yes I know. I did not always weigh this much it was only until after my daughter was born and I just kept gaining. I am at work for almost 12 to 13 hours a day and the rest of the time I am at home with my daughter. I was on the Quick Weight Loss Program, lost 25 pounds and gained it back. I have since tried it again, but nothing seems to make it come off anymore. I just want to be the same weight I was years ago, but I am just having trouble. I need to be able to afford the food, because as a single mother who works all the time I do not have the money to buy all the food that these programs want. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. As far as exercise by the time I get home me and my daughter do manage to walk around the neighborhood but than it gets too late. for how many years one can control diabetes by diet and exercise after it is confirmed. currently, i have type 2 with fasting glucose level early in the morning @ 96 .
3 months back it is 128 @ in the morning.

dont know for how many years it can be like this with good diet and exercise?

My insurance through my employer now pays for one weight loss surgery per lifetime. As a result many of my co workers have had the procedure. However many of them are still overweight. I don't want to have this procedure if its not going to help me lose some of the pounds so that exercise/physical activity is not so much of a chore. Please help.
